In case of emergency

In Case of Emergency:

In general, we recommend that you familiarise yourself with the location of emergency exits, fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers, as well as the following safety instructions. Please take note of the emergency exit plan which is located on the door in your room. Make an effort to familiarise yourself with noticeable points enroute to your room. Locate the nearest emergency exit and count the number of doors between your room and that exit. Open the emergency exit door and take a look at the stairwell behind it. Locate the nearest fire alarm and fire extinguisher.

In the Event of Fire:

Hotel Óðinsvé is equipped with a fire alarm system. Smoke detectors are installed throughout the hotel as well as in the rooms. The hotel also has an electronic internal alarm system that constantly monitors the interior of the entire building, and automatically passes any information regarding fire alarms to the nearest fire station. Additionally, all our staff members are trained to deal with emergency situations quickly and efficiently.

If You Notice a Fire:

If there is fire or smoke in your room, leave immediately. If you are in the corridor, activate the nearest fire alarm. Alarm buttons are installed near every elevator and stairway exit. When possible, close all doors near the fire, so it cannot spread. The smoke proof doors to the stairway can be closed, using the button on the magnet above and behind them. Please do not take any personal risks, only attempt to put out small fires with the aid of an extinguisher, if safe to do so. In case of a large fire, leave the building immediately. Most importantly please remain calm.

If you notice a fire, please remember the following points: Call the front desk if you can, close all windows and doors, keep calm.

If the Alarm is sounded while You are in Your Room:

Leave your room immediately. Elevators should not be used in the event of a fire. The emergency staircase is available as an emergency exit route. Fire doors close automatically but remain operational for rescue purposes.

If you Leave Your Room to go to the Nearest Emergency Exit, Please Proceed as Follows:

Carefully open the door and establish whether there is smoke in the corridor.

If only a little smoke is visible, make your way as rapidly as possible to the next emergency exit.

If it is dark, feel your way along the wall and count the doors to the emergency exit.

Proceed in a crouched position, as the ground air is safer to breathe than at higher levels.

Never try to go through thick smoke.

Do not use the elevators.

Always remember to remain calm

If you Can Not Leave Your Room:

Call the Reception and inform them of your situation. Remain in your room, if the exit is blocked, this is the safest place to be. Place wet towels and sheets against the foot of the door to prevent smoke from entering your room. Take the curtains down, if the fire reaches the window from outside at least no material will be set alight. Cover your mouth and nose with a damp cloth to ease breathing. Do not break any windows unless absolutely necessary. Closed windows help to prevent draughts of air feeding the fire. Consider your actions carefully and remain calm. Keep wastepaper baskets ready for use as buckets so that you can keep towels and sheets at the door wet. Make yourself noticeable and wave a sheet from the window as a signal to the Fire Brigade, that your room is occupied. Remain close to the floor.

Kindly Help Us to Avoid Fires:

Please refrain from smoking in your room. Do not use your own cooking and heating appliances.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Odinsve. It is centrally located and my room was comfortable with plenty of space to store my belongings. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was OK, but I wish they had a greater variety of items.

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend staying at Hotel Odinsve. We had a room on the 4th floor with awesome view over Reykjavik. The room was clean, comfortable, bed soft. We had a small balcony which was great. The hotel is located in the city center, walking distance to some great restaurants and bars and sights to see. We found parking close by fairly easily, had to circle around once. The service at the hotel was excellent, the staff in the reception were welcoming. We only had breakfast at the hotel once and it was fine, could do with more options. Overall great experience and would recommend anyone to stay at Hotel Odinsve.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful introduction to the city. But the best part was the location. Put you within walking distance of all the tourist attractions and food. The room was fine (very clean) but the bathroom could use an update.

Very clean, great location, friendly staff. Paid for breakfast on the first morning, felt it was over priced for what was offered so we ate out the rest of the week. Can be noisy at night so if your a light-sleeper, you should consider other options

The location of the apartments that Hotel Odinsve rents could not be better! Lots of space for a family, two bedrooms and a kitchen. There had been an overbooking, so the front desk offered us breakfast in place of the larger apartment we were supposed to have. Breakfast is at Snaps nearby and was a great selection buffet. We were glad to have the breakfast included.

Great location - I was worried we would feel far off of Laugavegur but it’s only 3 min walk and the best part is that the hotel neighborhood is full of cute shops and restaurants too. The staff was very nice and even gave us an upgrade to an awesome two-story room that felt like a cabin. The price was way better than staying on the main drag. Breakfast is not included - so consider that in your booking.

We had 3 rooms for 4 nights & this hotel was ideal. Rooms were comfortable & nicely decorated (although no WiFi & could do with a few pegs / hooks). Snaps is a nice bar downstairs & we had a very nice lunch (great French onion soup) there as well as enjoying the cocktails. The booking process was good & the staff were helpful throughout
